Qusp announces the first release from Anomie since her fierce, eclectic and socially resonant debut LP Permanent Relevation. In both new tracks, the Sydney-based artist distils experiential truth into the affective basis for finely-crafted aural onslaughts: high-grade beats with soul and flair.

‘Fat Chance Sucker’ is intensely kinetic, with fistfuls of attitude and a touch of the other-worldly. Sprung like a high-pressure pneumatic system, its tumultuous energy begins with a squelchy sawtooth lead whose rapidly oscillating rhythm is picked up by the swagger of the snares as they skitter over the shock-absorber bounce of the bassline. Then we emerge into a warmer, airier world of swirling textures and beguiling sonic arabesques. Drop this one at peak hour—while ‘Bang Bang’ is the one to open a set, loosening limbs with its rugged yet low-slung beat, hype atmospherics enveloping the roll of reverb-cushioned kicks and cold-splash snares. Two well-honed rounds of ammunition for the warehouse selector’s arsenal.
